Check the campsite. Know more about the camping ground which you want to visit. Ensure the security and safety of the place. See to it that it would be suitable for kids as well. Bring the necessary things needed whether for cold or warm weather.
Bring safe water. You should keep yourself hydrated. You should not rely with water you found just anywhere to avoid catching diseases. There should be sufficient water for the entire vacation.
Store food safely. Keep your food in a place where pests cannot get into them. There may be also wild animals around so it is better to have them locked
Keep your hands clean. Bring alcohol or sanitizer and use them as often as possible. Always wash your hands with soap and clean water especially prior to preparing food.
Be familiar with local animals and insects. Insects can be one of the threats for campers. Bring insect repellant or mosquito net especially for kids. You should also be aware with the types of animals that wander on that area. Refrain from approaching them.
Observe fire safety. Remind kids to stay away from hot surfaces like grills and pits. Campfire is necessary; however, you should be cautious and careful for they might also cause burns. Ensure that there is always water ready to stop the fire if no longer needed.
Have a first aid kit. There should be supplies to treat minor injuries like cuts or burns. There should also be medicine to treat headache, fever or colds.
Focus when driving. You should learn to drive safely to avoid accidents or injury. You should also know where you are so that you will not get lost. Carry a map with you.
